GVVA Trackfest July 5th and 6th

GVVA trackfest next weekend. See here for info.






Where: Juan de Fuca Rec. Centre
When: Events run 11am thru 8pm each day.
How Much to Race: $50 ($200 if not pre-registered)
How Much to Watch: free!
Prizes: Over $3500 spread between two Trackfests. $1400 will be given out at Trackfest #1, same for #2, and riders who compete in both will be entered in our Series purse for even more prize money, as well as being awarded overall Trackfest '08 Champions!

Events

Trackfest #1 will feature three types of racing, schedule draft here:

* The Omnium: all Omnium riders will compete in the Flying 200m, Kilo and 3km ITT, 5km Scratch and 16km Points race for the Omnium title, A, B, C & Women's categories, will be the first event run on Saturday.
* Note that B&C riders will substitute 500m and 2km
* Madisons: With limited gearing, and composite teams (for balance), several Madisons will be following the Omnium on Saturday, and throughout Sunday.
* Note that if enough teams attend, may be broken into A & B, otherwise run as 'Open'
* Bunch Races: several bunch races will be spread out over Sunday's festivities, including a Points, Tempo, Miss'n'Out, Keirin and more! A, B C & Womens categories will be offered.

Canda Day Populaire

If you are not doing the Yaletown Crit, then consider the BC Randeneurs Canada Day Populaire. This is a 141km fun ride. Fort Langley, around Abbotsford, Chilliwack and back.

Fort Langley Lions Seniors Hall - Corner of Glover Road & 88th
Start between 8:00 am - 9:00 am

This year's route is 141 km long to celebrate Canada's 141th birthday. The start & finish location is at the Fort Langley Lions Seniors Hall on the corner of Glover Road and 88th (entrance to parking off 88th). There will be 3 controls along the route and each will have water, fruit and some type of sweet (cookies and/or cake). The route offers a mix of terrain and mostly quiet country roads taking you from scenic Fort Langley through Matsqui and quaint Clayburn, across Sumas Prairie, up Sumas Mountain, through Veddar Crossing, returning across Sumas Prairie, through Huntington, Aldergrove and back to Fort Langley.

To ride a Populaire, you do not need to be a member of the BC Randonneurs Cycling Club. There is no pre-registration for this ride, sign up is on the day of the ride. To enter, complete the entry form and waiver available at the start, pay the $20.00 entry fee and ride. The start window is from 8:00 am to 9:00 am on Sunday July 1st. You may start at any time during that window. There will be a Control Card and a route sheet with a simple map given to each rider as the route/roads are not marked. Please allow approximately 15 minutes for registration.

Atomic/CVC Crit - July 5th

N.B. Separate Masters 30-40 and +40 will be run ONLY if 12 or more racers pre-register before July 4!





Here is page from cvcracing. Both this and Atomic's race bible say to refer to their websites for course info and directions.. All I can find is a map for last years race.

This appears to be the course.

Hopefully someone will let us know if that is correct etc.

Welcome racers! Atomic Racing and CVC are proud to present the Richmond Points Crit. Here's what you need to know to make this a safe and enjoyable race. The course is once again borrowed from Team Coastal's Thursday Night series.

Category Start Times and Distances
2:00pm :: Category 4/5 Men :: 20 laps
2:45pm :: Category 4 Women :: 20 laps
3:30pm :: Category 3 Men :: 22 laps
4:30pm :: Women 1&2 :: 22 laps
5:30pm :: Men 1&2 :: 25 laps
6:45pm :: Master 30-40 Men :: 20 laps
7:30pm :: Masters 40 + Men :: 20 laps

*****Masters must pre-register via Karelo by Friday July 4th if we do not have a minimum of 12 racers per masters category then the category/categories will be combined or cancelled*******

• Registration will be through Karelo, cost is $40.00, day of registration will be $50.00
• Registration closes 20 minutes before start of each race.

Rules of the Road
• Helmets must be worn at all times while on the course.
• This is not a closed course but marshals will be at intersections.
• The yellow line rule is in effect and there will be no warnings.
• Riders who curse/abuse area residents/drivers or who litter or urinate in public will
be immediately disqualified.

Race Number Placement
• There is a single number, which is to be placed horizontally on your right, lower back.
• The race number is to be returned, at which time the rider will receive their license back.
Lost numbers will be subject to a $5 penalty.

Wheel Policy
• There are no neutral wheels provided by the organizer.
• Wheel policy will be wheel-in wheel-out.
• Please mark your wheels with your name and race number so that we can track the
wheels if given out.

Placings
• We will record the top 5 finishing places for each category for Cycling BC upgrading
purposes.
• Prizing only for the top 3 in each category.
• There will two Backside "prize" Prime's per race.

Prizes/Awards
• There will be prizes (cash or merchandise). Prizes will be distributed after each
race at the start/finish area.

Washroom Facilities
• There will be porta-potties at the start finish.

N.B. For those driving up from Vancouver, Google Maps seems to want to direct us up the Coquihalla and then down the Coquihalla Lakes Road. You can drag the route down to use route 3 via Princeton and save going through the toll booth. It's only 10km longer. I have no idea what or if the Coquihalla Lakes Road is faster or slower or ....

Masters Racing
Masters Racing was dropped for this BC Cup due to low (only 3 people!!!) registration 1 week prior. Masters will now race in their ability category, opposed to their age category. The numbers for Masters racing has been decreasing, especially for Women.

If Masters wish to have separate racing, interest must be shown, ideally at least 1 week prior to Race Day.
