Peak Winter Racing Series - Stage 16 Results

Vancouver Riders – we will be running the Stage 16 course again on Saturday morning at 10am if you missed it last week and are interested in racing it! Stage 17 runs at 1:45 as usual.

Clash of the Titans – Stage 16

Lining up for Stage 16, was the King and all the contenders in what was to become the most fought out stage of this year's series. Taking the start in the same heat was Mike Nash and most of the other stage winners from this year. Marc Boudreau, Casey Roth, Derrick St. John and Ron Amos all smelt blood and were determined to go for the kill. Over the ensuing 30km course, the lead traded hands between Boudreau, St. John and Nash while the rest of the heat stayed close. Big numbers and big legs saw Nash and St. John pull away in the last 8km, never separated by more than 200m. Going into the final kilometer, Nash had St. John in his sights and powered back 150m. St. John's lead dwindled to 10m before Nash cracked and shut it down handing the win to St. John (49:25.0 vs. 49:38.2). Behind the two leaders, Marc Bourdeau took his second podium of the year with a third place and a time of 50:03.1.

In the woman's field, Tenille Hoogland proved to be a model of consistency by taking yet another Stage win, stopping the clock at 55:29.2. Behind her, Carol Deavy rode to a time of 58:45.3 to finish in second place. Alison Setton of Vancouver made another podium appearance by placing third (63:05.3).

Stage 16 also was part of the Maxxis Sprint Competition that places riders by their maximum watts/kg. The sprint saw many riders post some impressive power to weight numbers. To see who came out on top in the men's and women's categories, and to see more detailed results of all the rider's, visit

Stage 17 returns this weekend with a course described as having flats with plateaus so expect some sharp climbs and some challenging flat sections that will force riders to dig deep if they want to have a good ride. With 2 Stages left in this year's series, all eyes will be focused on Nash to see if he rallies back from his last few defeats. There's blood in the water, will the other sharks come out to play?
